Background

The Archie superheroes are somewhat notorious for their confusing continuity. Originally, Pow-Girl was Rose Wayne Raymond, or “Rosie,” a student of Professor John Raymond’s Criminology class. After she and John were assaulted by some Japanese spies, Rose noticed a spider clasp that was dropped by the professor and concluded he must be the Web. Being that she was studying Criminology, she began to follow John, and became enamored with him because he was the Web. Soon they were dating, and John confessed about his dual identity. They finally married, and at first she enjoyed the glamorous life of being “Mrs. Web.” However, over time she became a fussy and emotionally manipulative wife. She often would threaten John with divorce and even infidelity. Always running to mother, but never divorcing John, she continued her hen-pecking and poor John carried on being her spineless spouse while sneaking out to be the heroic Web. She created the Pow-Girl identity to spend more time with her husband, rather than any true desire to be a hero.

In more recent times, she appears to have been rebooted and is now Rose Wayne, the daughter of a boxer that trained her in hand-to-hand combat. Aided by a pair of power gloves, she operates as a street-level hero. Given her past, she may eventually meet up with the Web but that’s really up to you in your campaign or to the editors and writers at Archie. Given their usual disregard for continuity, she could be just about anything in her next appearance.

The stats here reflect Rose in her CURRENT form, as of June 2024. If you want to use her in her original form, reduce her Prowess to 3, drop the power gloves & motorcycle, and get rid of her Technology and Martial Arts specialties, replacing them with an Expert level in Investigation. Basically every Archie hero is just assumed to be affiliated with the Crusaders these days, so feel free to mix and match her with the various Crusaders.
