Power Level: High Level
Team: Dark Society
Role: Team leader, public face, and powerhouse
Motivation: Responsibility
CHARACTER PROFILE
Joseph “Joe” Blake is one of the most powerful and recognizable heroes on Earth. Although he is more than a century old, his cosmic physiology has preserved his youth, leaving him with the appearance and vitality of a man in his thirties. He possesses almost unimaginable strength and durability, can fly at tremendous speeds, and commands the cosmic fire that burns within his body.
Jupiter is the public face and nominal leader of the Dark Society. A successful professional actor and gifted public speaker, he knows how to reassure frightened civilians, inspire his teammates, and project confidence during moments of global crisis. When the world needs to see a hero standing between humanity and certain destruction, Jupiter is usually the first one forward.
For all his power, however, Jupiter is not the Dark Society’s greatest tactician. Geist is considerably more strategic, while Catalyst possesses greater versatility and mystical knowledge. Jupiter tends to favor direct action, sometimes assuming that sufficient strength and determination can overcome any obstacle. His confidence is one of his greatest assets, but it can also become arrogance, causing him to underestimate enemies or ignore the warnings of those around him.
Jupiter is the hero who takes the first blow, remains standing, and hits back hard enough to shake the horizon.

Command is Jupiter’s strongest social Talent. He is an accomplished public speaker who can rally frightened civilians, inspire other heroes, and project authority during a crisis.
Charm reflects his natural charisma and comfort with admirers, reporters, politicians, and fellow celebrities.
Professional represents his experience and skill as a professional actor, including performing, understanding the entertainment industry, and presenting himself effectively before a camera.
POWERS
All of Jupiter’s powers possess the Super Source.
Armor — 16d
His 16d Armor makes him immune to ordinary attacks rated at 8d or less unless those attacks possess the Penetrating quality. Combined with his 16d Toughness and 16 Health, this makes Jupiter extraordinarily difficult to defeat through conventional force.
Blast: Cosmic Energy — 14d
Jupiter can project powerful streams of cosmic fire from either his eyes or his hands. These are different visual expressions of the same Blast rather than separate powers.
His eye-beams tend to be fast and precise, allowing him to attack even when his hands are occupied. Energy projected through his hands is generally broader, more forceful, and visually dramatic.
Dazzle: Cosmic Radiance — 8d
Jupiter can cause his body to erupt with brilliant cosmic light, stunning and potentially blinding everyone within the affected area.
Dazzle is a Zone power, meaning the radiance normally affects everyone nearby. Depending on the circumstances, Jupiter may need to position himself carefully to avoid catching teammates or civilians in the flare.
Flight — 10d
Jupiter can fly at approximately 2,500 miles per hour in open air. He can cross enormous distances in a relatively short time and maneuver effectively in aerial combat. Because high-speed Flight is more difficult to use inside ordinary buildings and other enclosed spaces, its effective rank is normally reduced to 5d indoors.
Immortality
Jupiter ages at an extraordinarily slow rate. Although he is more than one hundred years old, he continues to look and function like a man in his thirties.
Super Senses: Enhanced Hearing
Jupiter possesses hearing far beyond the human range. He can detect extremely distant, faint, or muffled sounds and can perceive both infrasonic and ultrasonic frequencies. Enhanced Hearing operates using Jupiter’s 6d Perception.
PERKS
Fame
Jupiter is a celebrated professional actor and one of the most recognizable superheroes in the world. He is accustomed to publicity, interviews, personal appearances, and dealing with devoted admirers.
Reputation: World’s Greatest Hero
Jupiter’s importance extends far beyond ordinary celebrity. Governments, law-enforcement agencies, fellow heroes, and much of the general public regard him as one of the most credible and dependable heroes alive.
When Jupiter speaks during a global emergency, people listen.
FLAWS
Vulnerability: Magic
Jupiter’s active and passive defense ranks are halved against magical attacks, spells, enchanted weapons, and other magic-based effects.
Against a conventional attack, Jupiter benefits from his full 16d Armor. Against a magical attack, that Armor is effectively reduced to 8d. His tremendous Toughness still makes him difficult to injure, but an enchanted blade or sorcerous blast can harm him when an ordinary weapon cannot.
Quirk: Arrogant
Jupiter is accustomed to being the strongest, most famous, and most admired person in almost any room. He sometimes dismisses warnings, underestimates adversaries, assumes others will follow his lead, or takes unnecessary risks because he believes he can handle anything.
His arrogance does not come from cruelty. It is the natural consequence of spending more than a century as one of the most powerful beings on the planet.
Relationship: Spook and the Dark Society
Jupiter is deeply devoted to his wife, codenamed Spook. He is also personally invested in the Dark Society and feels responsible for the safety of every member of the team.
Threats to Spook or his teammates can provoke Jupiter into taking reckless action, particularly when he believes he has failed to protect them.
EQUIPMENT
Jupiter normally carries a Dark Society communicator. He rarely requires conventional weapons, armor, survival gear, or other specialized equipment.
PLAYING JUPITER
Jupiter is the Dark Society’s overwhelming physical powerhouse and its most visible representative. He should be played as confident, charismatic, and genuinely heroic. He understands the symbolic importance of being Jupiter and tries to present a reassuring face even when circumstances are dire.
In combat, Jupiter naturally moves toward the greatest threat. He protects civilians, intercepts devastating attacks, and confronts enemies that would overwhelm less durable heroes. His tremendous Armor and Toughness allow him to fight boldly, while his Flight and Cosmic Energy Blast give him considerable freedom on the battlefield.
His weaknesses are primarily personal and situational. Jupiter is vulnerable to magic, less strategically gifted than several of his teammates, and prone to believing that his enormous power makes elaborate planning unnecessary. The most interesting Jupiter stories place him in situations that cannot be solved through strength alone.
Geist may devise the plan and Catalyst may understand the impossible forces at work, but Jupiter is the one willing to stand in front of the monster and dare it to strike him first.
