Background

Alex Tyler was a troubled teen with a bad attitude and a juvenile record. Frustrated, his parents sent him to live with his strict uncle, Ted Tyler. Ted’s love and guidance got Alex to clean up his act. When Ted was murdered by a supervillain, Alex learned that Ted had been the superhero known as Fireball. Alex found a formula his uncle was developing to replicate the accident that gave him his fiery powers. Alex took the formula and gained powers similar to those of his uncle and he became the new Fireball. As such, he joined the New Crusaders but was tragically killed in the line of action. Partly to honor Alex’s life, his teammate Fly-Girl changed her identity to Firefly soon after.
