Biography:

When a centuries-old sorcerer named Lord Saker built a machine called the Shadowspear to harness the supernatural powers of the world, he upset the natural order of the universe. In response, the four elements, unimaginably powerful spirits who together formed the foundation of existence, each chose an ordinary human who had been killed by their element, and resurrected him or her.

The original Monolith was Tommy Czuchra, a teenager who died in a cave-in. Tommy was a prodigy, a genius, and he often guided the older heroes through various strategies. Eventually, Tommy’s human body was killed beyond repair, trapping him in his Monolith form. Lord Saker was able to pull Tommy’s soul from Monolith and placed it in a new human body. At this point, Tommy became Saker’s pupil in magic. The earth spirit that had transformed Tommy into an Elemental then went searching for a replacement.

It found one in Donald Ridgeway, an insurance salesman. Donald was a good father but was spineless at work, frequently passed over for promotions, and his wife was carrying on an affair with his best friend. Convinced to go on a mountain-climbing trip against his wishes, Donald died when his equipment failed. Resurrected as Monolith, Donald discovered the truth about his wife’s infidelity and threatened his friend that if he didn’t take good care of his wife and kids, Donald would return to hurt him. Donald then joined the Elementals, though they were slow to embrace him due to their loyalty towards Tommy.
