Biography

Elias has worked the border town cemetery his entire life, like his father and grandfather before him. The Drauve line is bound to an oath older than the town itself—guardianship of the graves so that the dead are not defiled or lost.

Years ago, when he first buried someone under “unconsecrated” circumstances (a murdered girl whose killer was never found), Elias felt something answer inside him: the covenant of the Gravebinder. Since then, whenever the sanctity of the dead is threatened, the chains answer his call.

Locals whisper about strange hymns heard at night and graves that seem to “swallow” would-be vandals whole. Elias has done nothing to stop the rumors—better they fear him than profane the resting places.

The Gravebinder came to the attention of the Dark Society while they were engaged in their conflict against the Pallbearer. Elias found himself allied with Cat-Man and Mouser, who introduced him to the Society. He was later invited to join the team after he aided them in defeating the Pallbearer but the group is unaware that he has secrets regarding his true loyalties.
