BACKGROUND: Nia was born on Earth to a Naltorian mother and a Human father, growing up in Parthas, an hidden alien-refugee town a few hours west to Metropolis.

Shortly after taking on the mantle of the Dreamer, Nia experienced a vision of the deaths of the entire Justice League at the hands of Henry Bendix. She travelled to the Fortress of Solitude and was able to warn Superman (Jon Kent) about the massacre. Jon recognised Dreamer, having befriended her descendent Nura Nal in the 31st Century. He explained that Nura had forseen their encounter, and given to him a set of gauntlets that would help Nia channel her energy projections. Nia also told Jon that she had forseen that his father Superman (Clark Kent) would return to Earth. Nia then went with Jon Kent, Jay Nakamura and the Revolutionaries to assist in the liberation of Gamorra, in the battle, Dreamer had a vision of the future in which Henry Bendix destroyed the whole island, but in the end of the conflict, she presumed that Jon changed the future.

During Lazarus Planet, Nia met the Kryptonian hero Supergirl, being given by her, Robin and Batman the mission to retrieve the Helmet of Fate by navigating into Khalid Nassour’s dreams. She eventually emerged from this experience feeling that her powers were different, now being able to see the future even being awake.

During Beast World, after having an vision during an conversation with her friend Yvette, she asked Jon Kent for help to evacuate Metropolis from an incoming catastrophe, facing and defeating a mutated Livewire without knowing that she was being observed by Amanda Waller.

Right after the conflict with the beasts in Metropolis, Nia was contacted by Amanda Waller on her own residence in Parthas, Waller intended to blackmail the heroine stating that if she would not help in the capture of the runaway former Suicide Squad precog member Afterthought, she would reveal Parthas to the whole world, putting it’s citizens in danger. Dreamer would then accept the request and eventually defeated Afterthought, but Amanda actually wanted to understand if Nia could be controlled if she needed to save those close to her.

Amanda would then once again threaten to reveal Parthas to the world as a way to use Dreamer’s powers to her favor, capturing her alongside a new incarnation of the Suicide Squad so that with her powers she could travel alongside the squad’s other members through the Dream Realm into Gamorra, in order to ensure that the country’s resources after the defeat of Henry Bendix would not fall in the hands of someone Amanda and the United States couldn’t control. Dreamer learned through a vision that Waller planned to take over Gamorra herself, and broke from her mission, recruiting teammate Harley Quinn and Gamorran military forces to prevent the rest of the Squad from disabling the island’s defenses. Though she failed, and was rendered unconscious by Bizarro, she escaped into the dream realm, and later entered the dreams of Amanda Waller in an unfruitful attempt to sway her from her path. Nia was eventually captured by the Suicide Squad, but was able to escape from them and made her way up to Waller, intending to kill her to protect her father and sister, but a future vision revealed that they were injected with nanite explosive devices that would kill them should Amanda’s heart stopped, leading to Dreamer once again being forced to be a part of the Squad.

Dreamer eventually turned against Waller once again, aiding the world’s heroes in triumphing in the events known as Absolute Power.
