Background
John McClane is an extremely courageous and skilled police officer – and the main character in the Die Hard series of films. He has 15 years of experience with law enforcement in New York City. Given his array of skills — including the handling of explosives — one would suspect that he may have been part of the special crisis team of the NYPD, the Emergency Service Unit .
McClane’s ability to survive explosions, firefights, crashes and other hazards resides past the borders of the improbable. Though he is not truly a superhuman, his strength of will is so great that it allows him to function as if he has Regeneration. He is also quite attuned to danger, allowing him to use a natural form of Danger Sense.
We know that he’s still close to his ex-wife, but that’s about it. He does have two children – a daughter, Lucy, and a son, John “Jack” Jr. He tends to find himself in impossibly dangerous situations, especially around Christmastime.
