Another Day, Another Blog Post!

veronica-lakeI’ve managed to keep the daily post schedule for a long, long time — oh, sure, sometimes I’ve dipped “Into the Vault” to post old favorites but hey, it’s always somebody’s first time seeing those, right? I’m pretty proud of that — even when I’ve gone on vacation, I’ve scheduled posts to run while I was gone.

Anyway, this morning should be an exciting one. I just posted the 44th episode of The Shadow Fan Podcast, which means that the big 5-0 is just around the corner. If I can stick to my weekly release schedule, the fiftieth episode would run the week of September 9, 2013. To celebrate, I’ll actually be recording that episode today and then sitting on it for a little while. You see, I’ll be interviewing a major figure in the Shadow’s long and storied history. This individual actually reached out to me in response to a recent episode and we’ve been conversing ever since, setting up this recording. I’m looking forward to talking to him and I’m hopeful that Shadow fans will really enjoy the insider information he can share. I want to keep the surprise for a little while longer so I’m not revealing my guest’s name just yet but I can promise you that if you love The Shadow, you’ll recognize his name right away.

On the writing front, I had a very productive day yesterday. I wrote my Gravedigger “Origins” script and sent it off to George Sellas for his review. Then I wrote a little more on the fifth volume of Lazarus Gray. For those who don’t remember, the fifth book will be a return to the format I used for the first one — there will be four or five short stories, with subplots running through them all. I’ve completed the first story and I’m a few thousand words into the second. I had planned to immediately start on my Pulse Fiction story but I realized that I had misplaced the series bible I’d been sent so I’ve requested another copy from Morgan Minor over at Pro Se. As soon as I get that, I’ll start work on that project.

Our accompanying photograph is of the lovely and talented Veronica Lake. Her iconic hairstyle may have sent many women to the beauty salons but she also appeared in many classic films including This Gun For Hire, Sullivan’s Travels and I Wanted Wings. Enjoy!
