rook_v3_black_bat_dr_satan_roughHappy Valentine’s Day! I hope you have the opportunity to spend it with the one you love.

I uploaded The Shadow Fan Podcast’s 19th episode this morning. Had a blast talking about “The Star of Delhi,” the ninth issue of Dynamite’s comics series and rambling on about my favorite comic book incarnations of The Shadow. Give it a listen, if you’re so inclined!

I mentioned yesterday that I’ve been getting several pieces of production artwork from George Sellas lately.  He’s working on The Rook Volume Three – Special Edition and, as always with him, it’s going to look gorgeous! Today we see an interesting piece featuring The Black Bat and Doctor Satan, both of whom play a large role in “The Burning Hells,” a story that kicks off the third book in The Rook series. Again, this is just a production sketch but you can already tell that George is knocking it out of the park! Think of this as my little Valentine’s gift for all of you.

When I finish The Fifth Assassin by Brad Meltzer, I’m going to split my reading time between another old Shadow novel and the Challengers of the Unknown novel written by Ron Goulart, which was published back in 1977. I’ve had this book for years and never read it.

Surging towards 53,000 words on Lazarus Gray Volume Four. Still hopeful I can finish it before the end of February!

Do yourself a favor and skip Goulart’s CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN. I’ve read it and it’s an absolutely wretched book. I cannot abide that man’s abominable writing.

  2. I dislike his work on The Avenger but figured I’d give this a try simply because it’s a Challengers novel and I like the cover, lol. Maybe I’ll pass on it after all.

Really wish my little car had a better sound system so i could listen to the Shadow podcasts. I know I could listen at the computer, but I just don’t like sitting in front of the machine after I’m done with using the one at work.
